How to Appear Head and Shoulders Above the Crowd in a Way that is Magnetic

Summary

Without knowing precisely what is happening, people unconsciously pick up that something is not quite right when they observe another person mentally processing a sizeable difficulty.

A simple sign such as the head tilted down can give a negative impression.

Interestingly, people when burdened frequently sit with their heads bowed and unfortunately still demonstrate this characteristic when they stand up and walk.

One thing is for certain – this person is sending a message and is hardly illustrating confidence.

What is charisma?

What is meant by a magnetic personality?

Let’s first begin by addressing the information we send out to the world.

What message do you inadvertently send to other people on a daily basis?

Can they read you like a book?

Do you stand, sit and walk in a manner that creates a positive or negative image of you?

Are you aware of the non-verbal messages you are constantly giving to others?

Whenever we are faced with a difficulty in life it is often reflected in the way we carry ourselves.

Body language, gestures and non-verbal cues are a struggle to hide.

Charisma flows effortlessly when your body language is aligned to the words you use.

With a little effort a magnetic personality can be formed.

Without knowing precisely what is happening people unconsciously pick up that something is not quite right when they observe a person mentally processing a sizable difficulty.

We all read body language without realising it.

A simple sign such as the head tilted down can give this impression.

Interestingly, people when burdened frequently often sit with their heads bowed and unfortunately still demonstrate this characteristic when they stand up and walk.

One thing is for certain – this person is hardly illustrating confidence.

Of course, it could well be that a person simply has a poor posture.

This is not helpful because it can unwittingly cause all kinds of damaging effects on health.

To exude confidence it is important to stand erect – and the taller the better.

Slouching makes a person look smaller and therefore less significant.

It also suggests a person is hesitant, indecisive and unsure about themselves.

This is poor body language and reflects the mindset of an individual.

The simple act of making your spine perpendicular can transform your whole appearance, and additionally provide significant health benefits.

A good posture is becoming increasingly challenging in a society where a high percentage of the workforce sits down all day and then journeys home in the same way before sitting down for the remainder of the night.

Modern furniture is often less than helpful, so it is incumbent to look after your posture by forcing yourself to straighten your spine.

Overtime modern life challenges the body language we express.

Whether we are aware of it or not, we are continually projecting messages to the external world – the world outside ourselves.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then it becomes necessary to send an image of confidence whenever we are in the company of others, particularly in a business context.

Successful people have a common quality, and this is an attitude of confidence.

They appear magnetic.

Reflect on the way in which an animal stands when they feel threatened – they stand tall and prepare themselves to defend or attack.

When a cat prepares itself to attack it immediately makes itself look much bigger.

So, planting your feet apart with your head level with the ground sends a signal that you’re not a person to mess with.

You may notice that many celebrities, particularly less well-known females, often pose with their legs crossed.

This may be relaxing but it is not a confident look.

Never cross your legs if possible – bathroom emergencies excluded!

Even if a person is physically short they can still project positive body language with a good posture.

So, what is an ideal way to carry yourself?

Stand tall to make yourself look as attractive as possible.

This simple action creates a confident message and people notice it unconsciously and immediately.

Throw in moving the shoulders back and standing with your hands on your hips on occasions and the world had better watch out!

Charisma is on its way!

The Meaning That Lies Behind Your Meaning

Summary

Whether we are aware of it or not, we constantly look for meaning in everything we do.

We want to do things that are familiar and the brain conveniently and seemingly independently “fires” neurons of certainty to keep us feeling comfortable and happy.

It is easy to become predictable and stuck and feel powerless to change.

If we reflect on the meaning we give to the many things we are subjected to it is amazing how quickly we can derive other, more positive interpretations of the data.

Interpretation of the data will determine the action that will be taken and often we simply respond habitually and fail to contemplate that there may be a better way to think about the situation.

Once habitual reframing takes place it can lead to making more informed and creative decision making.

Article

Whether we are aware of it or not, we constantly look for meaning in everything we do.

What we do has to make sense.

This is at the heart of positive thinking and the law of attraction.

If a reason, however inconvenient or unpleasant, is produced when any request is made, it makes the request much more difficult to turn down.

Of course, linguistically this makes the word “because” very powerful.

“Why did you do that?”

Well, because…”

“Would you please give me permission to do this because…”

Now, we want to do things that are familiar given we are creatures of habit.

The brain conveniently and seemingly independently “fires” neurons of certainty to keep us comfortable and happy.

A mindset change often does not result.

This constant activity can make changing any situation where we feel limited or unresourceful difficult to alter.

We become stuck and feel powerless to adapt.

What can be done to make change more accessible and transformation more possible?

First of all we can reflect on the meaning we give to many of the things we are subjected to.

Strangely enough, it is amazing how simple it is to reframe any meaning we attach to something if we are prepared to make the effort.

Once we understand that the brain is eager to keep us in a state of homeostasis it becomes easier to stop and reflect and consider alternative thinking.

We have to challenge ourselves and let the subconscious know we want to think differently.

This act alone uses innate creativity and is strengthened by using both hemispheres of the brain.

This is your brain power at play.

A mindset change often does result.

When we experience an event, we can develop a habit of stopping, reflecting and thinking:

What is happening here?

What else could this mean?

Often we will never really know what the actual situation means, but thinking this way will allow us to broaden the way we habitually respond to a given situation.

This will alter your mindset. It may even reflect the law of attraction!

It is useful to consider that the information is just that…information, and data is open to interpretation and often ambiguous in nature.

Let’s face it, data can mean just about anything!

However, interpretation of the data will determine the action that will be taken and often we simply respond habitually and fail to contemplate that there may be a better way to think about the situation.

You have enormous brain power at your disposal, so why not use it to get better results?

Once this spontaneous habit is altered and a new habit of reframing adopted and established, it can lead to more informed and creative decision making.

Now, what is wrong with certainty, you may ask.

It’s worked well for me and why should I start to become something I’m not?

Well, there is a trap in thinking along conventional lines.

Does your thinking derive the benefits you ideally want?

Do you make meaning in the most effective manner?

Does your “certainty” get the outcomes you desire?

This is where the “thinker and prover” is demonstrated, often to our cost.

We busily make sure that everything that happens proves what we think it means.

Confirmation is a lightning fast response to what we perceive to be true.

But is it?

Even when the evidence is sketchy it is amazing how we can adjust it to fit our model of the world.

The power of the mind is left untapped.

Thinking differently, even fearlessly, with a different mindset can have a profound effect upon the quality of life.

It can open up the possibilities and prevent you from overlooking potential opportunities.

If you have been guilty of believing you cannot do something, how uplifting would it be to believe it may be possible?

Challenging yes, but possible. Why saddle yourself with these self-imposed limitations?

The power of the mind is always available.

Keep in mind that meaning is just interpreted data.

Then think about the data in as many ways as you can.

Consider the situation in VAK terms – what else could the sights sounds and feelings represent?

Throw in smells and tastes if appropriate.

Open up your internal dialogue and ask yourself: What else could this mean?

There’s no need to restrict yourself; just ask the question and wait for the fireworks to explode into action.

You can create any meaning you wish and you can decide this is preferable to remaining stuck with no options.

Get into this habit and don’t be surprised if opportunities begin to become more obvious and equally accessible.

This is a “success” fuelled mindset.

Begin to Really Know Your Mind and Then Tell Your Stories!

Summary

The language of the subconscious mind is metaphor.

Generally people prefer a good story far more than having to process a bucketful of facts.

We first listened to stories as a child.

They can easily relax us and a story can be memorable and transformative.

What metaphors do you perhaps unknowingly use?

Taking the time to understand your own metaphors for your life can pay huge dividends.

They are powerful motivators.

I invite you to spend a little time recalling the stories you loved as a child and then identify the metaphors that currently signify what you presently believe.

Then ask yourself: Are they serving me?

Article

If it is accepted that we have a conscious mind – the part of the mind you are using right now, and an unconscious (subconscious) mind – everything that you are not aware of right now, then we are at liberty to consider how best to use these incredible instruments.

As you read the words on this page you are probably alert to many of the things that are going on around you.

Perhaps the sound of your family and neighbors, or the colours of the room where you are presently situated quickly spring to mind.

Whatever you are paying attention to forms your conscious awareness.

It is generally recognised that the conscious mind is comparatively limited.

It can hold and process only a small portion of the information it receives.

How else would we avoid becoming overwhelmed by the amazing amount of stuff competing for our attention?

Consequently we filter the information and reduce it to such an extent that most of the data is discarded.

We delete, distort and generalise to such a degree that we process a mere fraction of the information consciously.

This is the psychology of the mindset at play.

Being aware of this can make you wonder whether you can ever be one hundred percent right about anything!

If a mind mapping exercise was conducted on any of us it would indicate that we deliberately take action only on those things that make us feel comfortable.

It makes you think, doesn’t it?

Notwithstanding this, being in a state of overwhelm is a constant threat to our well-being in our busy lives.

Now the unconscious contains vast stores of memories, experiences and emotions, most of which are seldom in use and rarely available in a given moment.

If conscious processing is difficult, fragile and limited, wouldn’t it be better to tap into the vast resources of the unconscious?

Given that the conscious mind can change from moment to moment as it immediately processes what you are aware of it can struggle to recall many experiences, memories and what has been learned from the past that may be helpful.

So, our mindsets are limited.

This is frequently observed in real-time.

For example, people who have to give a speech often become anxious and, with fingers crossed, hope they do not forget their lines.

Rather than trusting their unconscious mind they steadfastly attempt to rely on their conscious efforts to memorize.

This is much too hard!

It’s far better to realise we all have an innate, hard-wired ability to use words and most of this is unconsciously stored and can be made available once we learn how to trust our minds.

Trusting your unconscious mind is a form of robust mind control.

If the unconscious is a huge repository of all the information you have ever learned and experienced, surely forging a relationship with your own unconscious would pay enormous dividends?

We all strive to create meaning in our lives.

We also intuitively believe in the myths, rituals and stories we heard and enjoyed as children.

Most of these seem to be “secretly” stored somewhere in the unconscious mind.

Occasionally we enjoy an insight that springs from our dusty database we call our mind when we are in a relaxed or detached state.

It we learn how to tap into and bring into awareness our insights and intuitions we could ramp up our ability to succeed in any endeavour.

What if you has such a flexible mindset always available?

Imagine your results!

Strangely enough you do.

We want to accept that the job we are doing is the best available; we are driven to believe that our lives make sense, and we hope things turn out well.

We are curious and have an inbuilt need to learn.

We purposely look at our lives and kind of decide it all makes perfect sense and fits together sensibly.

Of course, this is where faith plays a significant role.

So, how do we explore and begin to use the gifts we have unknowingly assembled?

The language of the subconscious mind is metaphor.

We first listened to stories as a child.

Then ask yourself: Are they serving me?

Perhaps it’s time to change your mindset.

If there is such a thing as the psychology of success it probably springs from knowing which of your stories are best and let them guide you confidently through life.

Of course, being happy to create a few new stories, ones that have a payoff is even better.
