What is charisma? What is meant by a magnetic personality? Let’s first begin by addressing the information we send out to the world. What message do you inadvertently send to other people on a daily basis? Can they read you like a book?
Do you stand, sit and walk in a manner that creates a positive or negative image of you? Are you aware of the non-verbal messages you are constantly giving to others? Whenever we are faced with a difficulty in life it is often reflected in the way we carry ourselves.
Body language, gestures and non-verbal cues are a struggle to hide. Charisma flows effortlessly when your body language is aligned to the words you use. With a little effort a magnetic personality can be formed.

We all read body language without realising it. A simple sign such as the head tilted down can give this impression.
Interestingly, people when burdened frequently often sit with their heads bowed and unfortunately still demonstrate this characteristic when they stand up and walk. One thing is for certain – this person is hardly illustrating confidence.
Of course, it could well be that a person simply has a poor posture. This is not helpful because it can unwittingly cause all kinds of damaging effects on health.
To exude confidence it is important to stand erect – and the taller the better. Slouching makes a person look smaller and therefore less significant. It also suggests a person is hesitant, indecisive and unsure about themselves.
This is poor body language and reflects the mindset of an individual.
The simple act of making your spine perpendicular can transform your whole appearance, and additionally provide significant health benefits.
A good posture is becoming increasingly challenging in a society where a high percentage of the workforce sits down all day and then journeys home in the same way before sitting down for the remainder of the night.
Modern furniture is often less than helpful, so it is incumbent to look after your posture by forcing yourself to straighten your spine. Overtime modern life challenges the body language we express.
Whether we are aware of it or not, we are continually projecting messages to the external world – the world outside ourselves.
If a picture is worth a thousand words then it becomes necessary to send an image of confidence whenever we are in the company of others, particularly in a business context.
Successful people have a common quality, and this is an attitude of confidence. They appear magnetic.
Reflect on the way in which an animal stands when they feel threatened – they stand tall and prepare themselves to defend or attack. When a cat prepares itself to attack it immediately makes itself look much bigger.
So, planting your feet apart with your head level with the ground sends a signal that you’re not a person to mess with.
You may notice that many celebrities, particularly less well-known females, often pose with their legs crossed. This may be relaxing but it is not a confident look. Never cross your legs if possible – bathroom emergencies excluded!
Even if a person is physically short they can still project positive body language with a good posture. So, what is an ideal way to carry yourself? Stand tall to make yourself look as attractive as possible.
This simple action creates a confident message and people notice it unconsciously and immediately. Throw in moving the shoulders back and standing with your hands on your hips on occasions and the world had better watch out! Charisma is on its way!
