Summary
Beliefs are the basic rules all of us live by. Once they are formed they become our own personal version of reality and the principles that guide our behavior.
They are difficult to change simply because we have a huge investment in them. But are they facts? Let’s look at some accepted “facts” about beliefs: Beliefs have a very powerful influence on behaviour.
If you really believe you can do something, you will do it. If you believe something is impossible, no amount of effort will convince you that you can accomplish it. Your beliefs about yourself and what is possible greatly affect your day-to-day effectiveness in any given context.
We all have beliefs that serve as resources as well as beliefs that limit us. Limiting beliefs are one of the chief culprits behind a lack of success in any endeavor. Remove a limiting belief and you will benefit.

“Tell me your beliefs and I’ll tell you what your life looks like!” Fundamentally, your life is rules by your beliefs. I’d like to show you how you can use beliefs to help drive personal success.
Let me ask you:
What are your beliefs around success and business?
What are your beliefs around love and relationships?
What are your beliefs around money?
What do you believe you deserve in your life?
What are your beliefs around parenting?
Do you deserve to be happy?
Do you deserve to be successful?
Do you deserve to truly have the life of your dreams?
Take a second look at the last question. To paraphrase: “Do you deserve to truly have what you want – to live the life of your dreams?” Is it possible for you? Do you have the required ability? Do you believe you are worthy?
If your beliefs guide your thinking, feelings and behavior then the actions you take will depend upon your beliefs.
If some of your beliefs are limiting then this leads to a simple question: “Is it possible to restructure, unlearn, or change your existing beliefs?” If so, how do you do it?
I propose to submit a number of articles to answer this kind of question. I’d like to discuss beliefs from a biological, neurological and scientific approach.
In particular, the role of habits, determinism, and other natural laws. First let’s briefly discuss beliefs, and how and why they get formed.
Here are some accepted “facts” about beliefs: Beliefs have a very powerful influence on behaviour. If you really believe you can do something, you will do it.
If you believe something is impossible, no amount of effort will convince you that you can accomplish it. Your beliefs about yourself and what is possible greatly affect your day-to-day effectiveness in any given context.
All of us have beliefs that serve as resources as well as beliefs that limit us. Limiting beliefs are one of the chief culprits behind a lack of success in any endeavor. Remove a limiting belief and you will benefit.
Many people prefer to argue for their limitations rather than acknowledge, step up, and change them.
Many of our beliefs were installed by our parents, teachers, social upbringing, and the media, before we were aware of their impact. This conditioning occurred before we were able to exercise any form of personal choice.
So, are you aware of your own limiting beliefs? If you feel they do not produce a payoff why not think about changing them? This is an ideal, opportunity to begin the process.
I began by making a statement: “Tell me your beliefs and I’ll tell you what your life looks like!”
Once you determine how and why you think in the way that you do and decide to take action, you will be able to begin the process of freeing yourself of the limiting beliefs that may be preventing you from being the success you can be.
I will put forward a way of doing this next time, and continue with the discussion on beliefs, and look at what is really meant by choice.
