Change the Rules PART One
Your self-worth will largely determine how happy you will be in your life.
The relationship between how you perceive your self-worth, and how you cope, behave and express yourself, will directly impact your results. Self-Worth.
Let’s talk about the best way to increase it.
So, the manner in which you cope in life reflects your self-worth, and forms the basis for the way you will feel about yourself.
As you grow and develop you are exposed to an enormous amount of “stuff” and before long you will unconsciously create a set of rules for the way you process information.
In fact, the way you perceive and behave today represents what you have learned in the past.
Initially these lessons are essentially survival focused – the need to look after yourself mentally, physically and emotionally.
Here’s the point: Until you transform the “survival” patterns you developed as a child you will unconsciously continue to use them.
They are deeply ingrained into your psyche.
These patterns include how you see yourself, how you treat yourself, and how you expect to be treated by others.
Given this, the challenge is to replace old learning’s with more relevant, up-to-date, and harmonious ways to interact both internally and externally.
If you are not careful and things get out of control, it’s possible to become almost dysfunctional.
The good news is once these patterns are challenged, tackled and overcome your self-worth will increase. It’s well worth it, wouldn’t you agree?
So, what do you need to do?
Change your coping patterns.
Learn to communicate congruently.
ALTER THE RULES YOU HAVE CREATED.
Reduce any defensiveness you may have.
Do the above and you will increase your self-worth!
The biggest issue to face is the crippling way the past can still control your life in the present.
This sets the stage for the next part.
The big question that needs to be answered is:
How do you sort and transform these patterns?
Remember you have many faces, many skills, many talents, and some wonderful attributes.
You also have choice.
So, why not choose to tackle these outdated, irrelevant and unhelpful patterns that no longer serve a positive purpose?
Till we chat again, take care, cheerio for now.
